Alcohol
Alcohol is a significant cause of disease, disability and social harm in the Hawke’s Bay community. View the video above to hear from some of our people on what they see and experience, and the impact it has on our communities.
Every year, around 600-800 New Zealanders die from alcohol-related harm.
The Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand, Te Matau a Māui Hawke's Bay Population Health team works on initiatives to promote the safe use of alcohol and reduce the harm caused by alcohol. This involves working with young people, parents and the community, as well as organisations and those selling alcohol at their premises/event.
