Chlorination of Napier City’s water supply will commence today (Wednesday 24 May) at 8am after a positive e. coli reading was returned late today.
Hawke’s Bay District Health Board is continuing to warn the public not to swim, collect shellfish for consumption, or undertake any other water based recreational activities in the area of the Ahuriri Estuary.
Hawke’s Bay District Health Board is supporting a worldwide campaign to stamp out viral hepatitis and raise awareness to find an estimated 25,000 New Zealanders who go undiagnosed with Hepatitis C. Hepatitis C is a highly infectious virus that is spread through blood-to-blood contact.
Presentations to accident and medical centres continue to increase. Yesterday 183 people presented to a GP and Hawke’s Bay Hospital had 11 people present overnight, two were admitted.

A total of five people are in Hawke’s Bay Hospital with campylobacter, two fewer than yesterday.
Immunisation is one of the most effective ways of helping people stay well and free from many diseases. It is recommended by the World Health Organization, the New Zealand Ministry of Health and medical authorities. There is information here about the National Immunisation Programme.
Members of New Zealand Nurses Organisation are now back on duty following strike action which began at 7am, 12 July and concluded at 7am today, 13 July.
A memorandum of understanding has been signed between Hawke’s Bay District Health Board and Cancer Society of New Zealand- Hawke’s Bay Centre to link up care and support for people with cancer.
