Ostomy services
Ostomy services are offered to people who have, or are expecting to require a stoma (a surgically created opening in the abdomen for evacuation of body waste).
Stomas include: colostomy, ileostomy and urostomy. Ostomy services provide people with information, advice and support before and after surgery. -
Hawke’s Bay Hospital impacted by junior doctors’ strike
Hawke’s Bay Hospital services will be severely impacted with many outpatient clinics and non-emergency surgeries postponed due to next week's planned three-day, 73 hour national strike by junior doctors. Contingency planning is in place to ensure emergency and urgent care services are available at Hawke’s Bay Hospital.

A second planned 48 hour junior doctors’ strike from 8am Tuesday 29 January until 8am Thursday 31 January will affect some surgery and outpatient clinics planned for next week at Hawke’s Bay Hospital.

Alcohol - The Risks
Risky drinking is a significant problem in Hawke’s Bay. One in every four adults drinks too much – this means they are likely to be harming their own health or causing harm to others through their drinking.

District nurses provide nursing care to patients who live within Hawke’s Bay. They offer assessment, clinical treatment, support and education for patients and their families.
A doctor or practice nurse or other health professional will refer you to district nursing.

The Assessment, Treatment and Rehabilitation Unit (AT&R) is a 36-38 bed ward at Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital.
