Members of New Zealand Nurses Organisation are now taking strike action for 24 hours from 7am today until 7am Friday 13 July.
What you need to know:
Hawke’s Bay Hospital remains very busy, and this is expected to continue through into tomorrow.
People should not delay seeking medical treatment or going to hospital if the matter is urgent. They should dial 111 for emergencies or an ambulance.
People with non-urgent injuries and illnesses are urged to seek medical help from a pharmacy, GP, medical and urgent care centre, or call Healthline 0800 611 116 and leave the Emergency Department for emergencies only.
City Medical Napier is open 24/7 with a GP on site.
A full list of GPs and pharmacies and their opening hours is available from www.ourhealthhb.nz .
Maternity services remain open and labouring women should present to Maternity as normal.
Central Hawke’s Bay’s health centre’s inpatient ward will open again from 7am.
Staff are very grateful for the support they are receiving from volunteers who are helping to assist with care for patients.
