Radiology or X-Ray department
Looking inside your body made easy
When you come to Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital it is possible that we will not immediately know what’s going on inside your body. So we might require the assistance of our Radiology Department to work out what is wrong with you, and what to do about it.
Most of you will be aware of the term X-Ray, and this is one thing the Radiology Department do. But there are a number of other imaging techniques at the disposal of our staff.
Some operations, which don’t require major surgery, are actually carried out with the help of radiology. This is called Interventional Radiology. It often will allow you to have a shorter stay in hospital.
Te Whatu Ora Hawke’s Bay Radiology Service operates from Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital. X-Ray services are also available at Napier Health, Central Hawke’s Bay Health Centre and Wairoa Health. Meanwhile The Hastings Health Centre, The Doctors Hastings and Napier X-Ray also provide X-ray services.
