Take the bus

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, Hawke's Bay provides free bus transport for all patients travelling to or from an outpatient appointment at Hawke’s Bay Hospital, Napier Health and Orthotics House at Stortford Lodge. Patients simply need to show their appointment letter/card or text reminder to the bus driver to get on the bus network for free. Appointment letter/cards or text reminders must be shown to the driver both to and from the appointment, so be sure to hang onto them after the appointment.

Free fares extend to the patient’s carer or support person, who can also accompany them at no charge.

Remember that children under five also travel free.

Hawke’s Bay Hospital is easily accessible by bus from many Hawke’s Bay locations, including to and from Hastings, Napier and Flaxmere.

Many buses stop right outside Hawke’s Bay Hospital and on Omahu Road in both directions.

• 20 – Hastings and Flaxmere (loop)

MyWay On-demand Public Transport Service (Hastings only)

MyWay is Hastings’ on-demand public transport service that combines the benefits of public transport with the convenience and flexibility of travelling by car, taxi or Uber. It operates in the Hastings urban area Monday – Friday, 6am - 6pm.

Users book a ride via the MyWay app or by calling 0800 108 838.

Just like the regular bus, MyWay is free for patients traveling to/from appointments at Health NZ sites. Patients simply need to show their appointment letter/card or text reminder to the driver when boarding.

Free shuttle bus service for outpatients to Hawke’s Bay Hospital from Wairoa

Wairoa residents who have an outpatient appointment at Hawke’s Bay Hospital can travel by shuttle bus for free!

Timetable:

• Daily Service – Monday to Friday
• Departs Wairoa Health at 8am
• Returns to Wairoa Health at 5pm

Ring Wairoa Health on (06) 838 7099 to confirm a seat on the bus.

Only valid for outpatients holding scheduled appointments
