Community Oral Health Services (COHS) provides free school-based clinics for 0-13 year olds, as well as all the adolescents that attend Wairoa College up to the age of 18. Early pre-school enrolment in COHS helps parents prevent their children having poor dental health.

Hawke’s Bay District Health Board’s (HBDHB) investment into offering free bus fares for people attending outpatient appointments at Hawke’s Bay Hospital and Napier Health is already making an impact with 345 outpatients choosing to take the bus during its first month of operation.

Central Hawke’s Bay Health Centre provides a myriad of services to its local community. The health centre offers six inpatient beds and outpatient physiotherapy and occupational therapy clinics, as well as a district nursing service.
Ngahiwi Tomoana, Hawke’s Bay District Health Board’s acting chair says the board has met with CEO Dr Kevin Snee and had an update on the health response to the current gastro illness outbreak. Mr Tomoana said “We are confident in the DHB response to this significant event.

Hawke’s Bay District Health Board is investigating four confirmed cases of Paratyphoid Fever and is following up three suspect cases. All four confirmed cases have required hospital care at Hawke’s Bay Hospital. At least two of the cases ate mussels gathered from Napier’s Ahuriri area.
