Hawke’s Bay District Health Board has received strike notice from New Zealand Nurses Organisation (NZNO), advising that nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants covered by their Multi Employment Collective Agreement (MECA) will take strike action for 24 hours from 7am Thursday 5 July until 7am Friday 6 July.

Increased levels of e. coli in the Porangahau Lagoon this week has prompted a reminder from health officials to warn people of the risks associated with gathering cockles from the area.
People are being warned not to swim in the Nuhaka River until further notice due to the detection of E. Coli levels that are 20 x above safe swimming guidelines.
