On Monday (11 February) Hawke’s Bay District Health Board became aware of an issue with a batch of sterilising equipment that was used in Hawke’s Bay Hospital operating theatres, sent to outpatient clinics and used by district nurses between 2 February and 11 February.

New Zealand Nurses Organisation (NZNO) nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants have voted to strike, significantly impacting services at Hawke’s Bay and Wairoa hospitals and Napier and Central Hawke’s Bay’s medical centres.
Four retailers have been caught selling cigarettes to children under 18 years of age following a controlled purchase operation carried out recently in Hastings and Napier.

Antenatal breastfeeding classesFree antenatal breastfeeding classes are offered at Hawke's Bay Hospital in Hastings on the first Monday of every month (unless that Monday is a public holiday, in which case the class will be on the following Monday).
