Hawke’s Bay health officials are warning of a rise in influenza-like-illness across the region and are advising people to protect themselves by having an influenza immunisation or, if already unwell, ensuring regular hand washing and social distancing to avoid spreading the flu to others.

Hawke’s Bay people are encouraged to have their say on a regional health proposal that sets out a range of options about how and where they might receive health care services in the future.
Water test results from Lake Tūtira have confirmed a cyanobacteria bloom on the lake. Medical Officer of Health Dr Nicholas Jones said as the bloom was visible on the lake and test results had confirmed cyanobacteria, the bloom was likely to be toxic to people and animals.

Three cases of Paratyphoid confirmed
Hawke's Bay District Health Board is investigating three Paratyphoid cases reported over the last week. Paratyphoid is a similar illness to typhoid fever and can cause serious illness. All three people have needed hospital care.
