Whakatāne Hospital has a 24-hour emergency department and 160 beds. Services include medical, surgical and children's health.

If your health emergency is not life threatening, but you cannot wait for an appointment with your usual doctor or healthcare provider, go to an after hours or urgent medical centre. They can help you with things like bad cuts, sprains or breaks, minor head injuries, or if you are feeling really sick. You do not need an appointment but might have to wait.

Virtual doctor services often have appointments available on the same day. You do not need to be enrolled to use some of them. They are a good option if your usual doctor or nurse cannot fit you in.

Baybus has a bus service that arrives and departs right out outside our hospital on Stewart Street.
There is parking at the main entrance and throughout the campus. The main entrance also has mobility parking.
There are bicycle parks at the main hospital entrance on Garaway Street and throughout the campus.
Te Takapū ō Hineahuone Community House is a 4 bedroom house. It is available for whānau use if a whānau member is in hospital. To book, contact Pou Kōkiri staff on 07 306 0999 extension 4640.
The chapel is a quiet place for prayer, meditation or reflection. It is on the ground floor of the hospital.
The chaplain offers spiritual guidance and pastoral care and can affirm the culture of each person. They can be contacted any time through a staff member.
The cafeteria is open daily from 8am to 4pm.

You can send mail and flowers directly to the wards throughout the day. To deliver stamped mail, post in the mailbox at the main entrance or hand it to a staff member.

Pou Kōkiri are the front line of Māori Health Gains and Development staff that provide hospital and community-based services from Tauranga Hospital and Te Whatumauri Hauora (Whakatāne Hospital). Pou Kōkiri is a service that supports Māori language, customs and practice and advocates cultural needs.
