Medical Day Unit (MDU)

The Medical Day Unit was set up to improve the management of short stay patients who require further treatment and care but do not requrie an inpatient bed. 

This includes people who, for example, need post procedure observation and monitoring, transfusion, infusion, drainage, biopsy, lumbar puncture, radiological procedures or hydration.

Patients are referred to the Medical Day Unit from various sources: radiology, medical and surgical specialties, Villas (outpatients), General Practitioners, Physicians, and Emergency Department.
