Whānau Voices hui in Tuai

The next step on Te Wairoa Whānau Voices health journey will be taken before the end of the year, with a hui being held in Tuai next week (16 December). Two more will be held in January, in Raupunga and Wairoa township.

Hawke’s Bay District Health Board teams have met with Wairoa health workers and collated feedback from a range of sources over the last six months.

Now they want to hear from the wider Wairoa whānau about their health care experiences and visions for the health service. From the feedback, improvement plans will be prepared and presented to the community.

Health board planning and funding executive deputy director Emma Foster is looking forward to getting the feedback. “Having talked to community representatives in the areas they are being held in, we are confident we will get a good turn out and valuable information.”

The meetings are not the only opportunity for Wairoa whānau to have a say. A dedicated email address is available as well as a freepost mailing option, and whānau suggestion boxes will be set up in several places across Wairoa in the new year.

Required improvements to services have not been halted while the Whānau Voices project proceeds. In the last few weeks several technological upgrades for Wairoa had been announced, including a new cardiology and radiology scanning unit and new x-ray equipment.

The first hui is on:

Monday 16 December, 6pm to 8pm, Tuai Hall, Tuai

The email address for feedback is whānauvoices@hbdhb.govt.nz or put your feedback into an envelope and post it free to:
