The following contain information about a number of communicable diseases, their signs and symptoms, treatment etc :

  • Hib or Haemophilus Influenza Type b - is a bacteria that lives in the nose and throat and is spread by coughing and sneezing
  • Legionellosis - also called Legionnaires Disease,  is a type of pneumonia caused when your lungs are infected with Legionella bacteria
  • Leptospirosis - is a disease caused by a bacteria called leptospires which live in the kidneys and genitals of many types of animals
  • Malaria - is a serious and sometimes fatal disease caused by a parasite that gets into your liver and infects your blood
  • Measles - is a highly infectious disease that affects children and adults
  • Mumps - is a very infectious virus that causes painful swelling of the saliva glands on the side of your face
  • Meningococcal disease - or Neisseria meningitidis invasive disease, is a very serious disease affecting children and adults
  • Norovirus - is a group of viruses that cause gastroenteritis, also known as gastro or the tummy bug
  • Pertussis - or whooping cough is a very infectious disease that causes coughing fits
  • Salmonellosis - is a common disease caused by the bacteria Salmonella which live in the gut of people, birds and animals
  • Scarlet Fever - is an illness caused by streptococcus A bacteria (more commonly known as strep)
  • Shigellosis - or Shigella is an infection of the bowel caused by bacteria
  • Slapped Cheek - is a virus also called "Fifth disease" or "Erythema infectiosum" which causes bright red cheeks and a lace-like rash on the body
  • Toxic Shellfish Poisoning - occurs after eating shellfish conteminated with naturally occurring toxins or poisons known as marine biotoxins
  • Tuberculosis - is a serious disease also known as TB that is caused by a bacteria that affects your lungs although it can affect other parts of your body
