Older persons mental health
Older Persons Mental Health is a specialist multidisciplinary community team based at Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital.
The team includes a psychogeriatrician, medical officer, associate clinical nurse manager, registered nurses, social worker, occupational therapist, cognitive therapist and clinical psychologist.
They provide specialist assessment and treatment to people with mental illnesses that start later in life - mainly people over the age of 65. Some people seen are under that age with early onset dementia.
The main conditions seen are dementia, depression, anxiety disorders and mental illnesses associated with physical illness such as delirium.
This team works Monday to Friday from 8am until 5pm.
